Welcome Deacon Eddy Smith!
Thursday, July 10, 2025
I was born and raised a Catholic, Cuban American in Miami and have essentially lived here all my life. Despite the last name of Smith, both my parents are Cuban. I’m the proud son of Jose Ignacio (deceased), a veteran of “la invasion”, and Silvia Santeiro, a faith-filled, loving mother. My only sibling, my older brother, is named after my father and still lives in Miami.
My lovely patient wife Lisa and I have been married for 32 years and have three children ranging in ages from 30 to 17 (Eddy Jr., Anthony, and Abigail). Abbey lives with us and attends Coral Reef H.S. I was ordained in 2010 and served several years at St. Augustine where I was involved in ministry to the college students. From there, I was assigned to Epiphany and now here, at St. Louis.
For my day job, I serve as the Chief Operating Officer for a national environmental engineering firm, so I travel about the country a fair amount. In my spare time, I like to hunt, fish, hike, care for my bonsai and read, but most often, I will be on the streets or gravel roads on a bike. I’m a bit of an endurance adrenaline junky.
I feel blessed to serve as a deacon for the church that I love. With all the joys and struggles we endure in our lives, the fact that I’ve been chosen to serve this community and evangelize the good news is a testament to the great mercy and love that God offers, or better said, that He is. God is good indeed.
I look forward to getting to know you and to help build the Body of Christ with you.
May God bless you.
