Anointing of the Sick

The Catholic Sacrament of Anointing of the Sick, formerly known as Last Rites or Extreme Unction, is a ritual of healing appropriate not only for physical but also for mental and spiritual sickness.

The Anointing of the Sick is for any Catholic, regardless of age, if his or her health is seriously weakened or who is going to have surgery. Contrary to many people's belief, it can be received more than once if the original illness gets worse or if another serious sickness is diagnosed.

It is important to remember that the Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick complements medical treatment. It does not replace it. God uses the skill of the medical staff as well as modern medical techniques to restore health.

Prayer Chain for the Sick

If you wish to add someone to our prayer chain for the sick, all you have to do is to submit the name of the person, family member, loved-one, fellow parishioner, or neighbor for whom prayers are being requested to the our address: information@stlcatholic.org

Once received, the names will be uploaded to our parish webpage for three weeks, and our community will be invited to remember them in prayerful concern during their own personal prayers each day. Furthermore, a daily printout of the most recent submissions will be placed on the altar table during each daily Mass at Saint Louis Catholic Church.

The priests will also prayerfully include these intentions at their community Vespers each evening, Monday thru Friday. Let’s, together, hound heaven and pray for the sick!
