Confirmation

"Let no one have contempt for your youth, but set an example for those who believe, in speech, conduct, love, faith, and purity.”

1 Timothy 4:12

St. Louis Catholic Church recognizes parents as the primary educators of their children. The parish takes seriously its obligation to support and assist parents in the faith formation of their children. The overarching goal of the parish’s religious education program is to teach in the manner of Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ is central to all religious instruction.

The basic objectives that guide the curriculum are:

  • To bring every disciple to an encounter with the living God.
  • To help disciples develop values and a moral code aligned with the Catholic Christian heritage.
  • To pass on the rich tradition of the Catholic faith.

The Confirmation program comprises eight sessions over the course of eight weeks, designed for adolescents entering 8th through 11th grade during the second semester of the academic year. For teens who are entering 12th grade, please check the Adult Confirmation page for more information.

Alongside these eight sessions, participants are required to fulfill the following obligations:

  • Select a sponsor
  • Choose a Confirmation name
  • Attend the Day of Reflection with their sponsor
  • Participate in our Confirmation retreat

In addition to the eight weeks of Confirmation classes, teens are encouraged to get involved in our youth group program. For youth group registration, click the following link to redirect you to the Youth Ministry webpage.

Why Confirmation?

In the sacrament of Confirmation, the apostles and the bishops, who are their successors, hand on to the baptized the special gift of the Holy Spirit, promised by Christ the Lord and poured out upon the apostles at Pentecost.

Thus, the initiation in the Christian life is completed so that believers are strengthened by power from heaven, made true witnesses of Christ in word and deed, and bound more closely to the Church.

“Be sealed with the Gift of the Holy Spirit.”
